If you have received a free ebook from me and you’re wondering how to get it off your computer and onto your e-reading device, the following instructions should help.
- click on the .mobi link in the email I sent after you joined the Ingrid Skyberg new book alert list (or download the file you received directly from me in an email)
- this will then automatically download to your downloads folder
- connect your Kindle to your computer with the USB cable (this would have been supplied with your e-reading device)
- open the finder/filemanager/windows explorer window (the window that shows you the list of files and folders on your computer)
- you’ll see a new device listed on the left hand side called KINDLE
- click on the new device
- a new window should open showing the contents of the Kindle
- inside you should find a folder called ‘Documents’
- open another finder/filemanager/windows explorer window and navigate to the .mobi file you downloaded earlier to your regular downloads folder
- copy it to the documents folder on the KINDLE (or drag and drop it)
- disconnect your device from your computer
- open up your Kindle and the new book should be there – if it isn’t you may need to refresh your Kindle
This technique should work in the same way for getting epubs to other e-reading devices
If the above instructions are not clear, there’s a YouTube tutorial that shows you how: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyeyPQoLwMA
