2020’s been a weird year for all of us, even for fictional characters like Ingrid. Some of you may have noticed that the Skyberg books have been off sale for a while. Others of you may remember I promised – over a year ago – that the next Skyberg adventure was imminent. So why the long wait for the new book?
Well, last year, after a great deal of anguish and with an immense amount of hope, I signed a new publishing deal for the Skyberg books. This year, after it became clear the publisher and I had different visions for the future of the series, I got the rights back. I am now in the process of re-publishing the series and laying the foundations for the successful – if extremely belated – launch of Book 7.
Before Eva bequeathed the series to me, we had lots of conversations about what lay ahead for Ingrid, and while the next few books were mapped out a long time ago – I can’t quite believe it’s over five years since Eva died – a detour into publishing purgatory wasn’t anything either of us anticipated. But, I got the rights back, I’ve got Eva’s notes, I’ve got the next book ready to roll.
And like everyone else on the planet, I am determined that 2021 is going to be much better than 2020.
