Not to mention a few brand spanking new ones.

Whether you love Jackson Brodie or just can’t get enough of Holmes and Watson, you won’t be disappointed by the fresh crop of detective, spy and crime dramas filling the small screen from late 2012 and right through 2013.Gillian Anderson stars in the new crime series coming to BBC1 - The Fall

For those of you still missing the 10th Doctor, David Tennant tips up in a couple of productions. And if you prefer Gillian Anderson (pictured) in FBI mode rather than bonneted troubled Dickens character then look out for The Fall coming to BBC1 late 2012.

Foyle’s War returns, as does Luther (for its third outing).

If you like to judge your drama by the quality of the writing or the direction, big hitters coming up with the goods include: Jimmy McGovern, Michael Winterbottom, Hugo Blick and Mark Gatiss. There’s also a fistful of adaptions of the novels of some great authors – Ann Cleeves, Benjamin Black, Ian Rankin and William Boyd to name but four.

And just in case all of that isn’t enough for ravenous crime fans, there are even new episodes of Poirot and Miss Marple to sink your teeth into.

Full details can be found at Robin Jarossi’s fantastic blog Crime Time Preview.

PS Obviously I can’t let a TV crime drama post go by without mentioning the truly fabulous Scott and Bailey. Commissioned for a third series by ITV, filming starts in Manchester in November. Amelia Bullmore will be writing another two episodes and we’ll finally get to see who’s playing Rachel Bailey’s mum. Can’t wait.
